Here at Camp Half Moon, we are counting down the minutes until the first camper arrives for the summer! In anticipation for the upcoming summer, we have come up with a few tips to make packing for residential camp near New York a little bit easier and less hectic. Follow these tips to ensure that your son or daughter has the best experience at residential camp this summer!
First, get a list of what is needed to pack. We are prepared and ready with our residential camp packing list! We believe this list has everything your son or daughter will need this summer at Camp Half Moon. We included all of the necessary items for a typical day at residential camp, a rainy day, swimming, toiletries, hikes, day trips, and toiletries. Next, gather all of your items and label them! We recommend iron on labels or permanent laundry markers. Get your son or daughter involved. Since they will be the one at residential camp, having them help to pack ensures that they will know what they have at residential camp this summer. Consider investing in a trunk to keep everything organized this summer. Campers often live out of a trunk every summer so buy one that you know will last for the summers to come. Next, look at the residential camp activities that your camper will be participating in this summer. Will they need any equipment? While we have most equipment, bringing the following items is optional: tennis racket, fishing rod, bike helmet, mountain bike, skateboard, roller blades, pads, and items required for horseback riding (hard shoes/boots with small heel, long pants, and a helmet). If you have any questions regarding equipment that might be needed, feel free to call us. Avoid packing any weapons, candles, incense, and cell phones! Cell phones are not permitted in the camper cabins and will be take and stored in the residential camp director’s cabin.
Now that you’ve gone through these tips, we hope you’re ready to get packing! If you’re interested in a residential camp near New York, call Camp Half Moon today at (888)-528-0940 for more information or to schedule a tour.
